Rick Castro is an independent filmmaker and photographer living and working in Los Angeles. Rick's photographs and films explore the wide world of fetish and the fringes of sex culture. His work has been published in artist's editions and exhibited in galleries and institutions worldwide.

In 1988, Rick began photographing hustlers on Santa Monica Boulevard. This documentation lead to his 1995 collaboration with filmmaker Bruce LaBruce, the film Hustler White, which Rick co-directed and which screened at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2002 Rick directed the short documentary Plushies and Furries, which was shown on MTV in the US and Channel 5 in the UK.

Rick also is a frequent contributor to Studio Magazines, publishers of Blue, B&W, Sex, and Deep Blue. His work is in the permanent collections of The Alfred Kinsey Institute and The Tom of Finland Foundation.

"That's the way he lived his life. He just couldn't be bothered. He's like the Greta Garbo of porn."
